Abstract
All biological processes depend on proteins being stable and in the appropriate folded conformation. In this work, effects of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) on bovine carbonic anhydrase (BCA) stability were studied by means of molecular dynamics simulation. Nine different concentrations of SDS were used. Secondary and tertiary structure changes were analyzed for BCA in the presence of these different concentrations of SDS. Mechanical stability of BCA was also considered. Results show that in the presence of 0.16% (w/w) SDS/water, changes in the BCA structure are different from those triggered by other SDS concentrations.
