Abstract
Abstract Purpose: The purpose of the present study was a comparison of sensation seeking among athletes and non-athlete students in faculty of Engineering and Humanities. Methods and materials: In this descriptive analytical study 99 female and 94 male students (88 athletic students and 105 non-athletic students) with average age of 22 years selected randomly from students of azad university of sabzevar. Sensation seeking scale V (SSS, form V) developed by Zackerman and cognitive questionnaire were used for data collection. The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS 15 using independent samples t- test. Finding: The results showed that men compared to women, Engineering Students to the humanities and athlete students than non-athletes have significantly higher sensation seeking ( p=0/005). Students who tended to drugs than other students significantly were more sensation seeking (p=0/001). Conclusion: So, it is very good to replace non dangerous behaviors instead of dangerous behaviors when person has a high degree of sensation- seeking.
