In this paper, the new [Mn~4~(cdaH)~4~^.^10H~2~O]^.^3.34H~2~O complex between Mn(II) and 4-Hydroxyoyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (chelidamic acid, cdaH~3~) is described. It features tetranuclear Mn(II) clusters connected by (H~2~O)~10.34~ water clusters in the crystal packing. In the previously reported compound [Mn~2~(cdaH)~2~^.^4H~2~O]^.^4H~2~O (Ghosh <i>et al.</i>, 2005), (H~2~O)~14~ supramolecular clusters have been found responsible for the assembly of the final 3D MOF in the crystal lattice. The nuclearity of the metal complex as well as the nature of the metal ion are, therefore, important in determining the structural feature of the water cluster in the structure; in fact, the compound [Cd~4~(cdaH)~4~^.^10H~2~O]^.^4H~2~O (Das <i>et al.</i>, 2009) having the same stoichiometry and the same kind of tetranuclear metal cluster in the structure as the title compound, only features (H~2~O)~5~ clusters in the crystal lattice.
