Tetanus was diagnosed in 2 heads of 100 kids at a flock in the Torbat Jam, Khorasan Razavi, Iran.The affected kids were recumbented in lateral with stiff limbs and couldn’t stand steady.In addition to rigidity of all four limbs, some other clinical signs including opisthotonos, Muscles tremors, trismus, prolapse of third eyelid, excitibility and hypersensitivity to touching and audio stimulating were also detected. Two other kids were died within 2 days of beginning of the signs and there were some other cases with similar signs in the flock. All affected kids were male and castrated by rubber rings. Clinical, clinicopathological and pathological examinations and autopsy confirmed the diagnosis as an outbreak of tetanus in the flock. A treatment protocol and Some recommendations were given to the owner for inhibiting of mortality in other castrated kids and preventing of the disease in future.
