Abstract
In this paper, a three dimensional numerical model of ingot solidification is presented. The numerical model is based on the Fourier’s differential equation, including equation of the latent heat which is released during crystallization, as well as the energy of lattice defects. In order to solve the numerical model, a finite-difference method was used. On the basis of this numerical model, it is possible to calculate temperature distribution, temperature gradient, distribution of the solid and liquid phase and increment of solid fraction. The accuracy of the results was verified by comparing them with those obtained under the laboratory conditions.
