Abstract
In this paper, the Joule-Thomson inversion curve has been used to test the predictive capabilities of some recent equations of state. These five equations of state are: Nasrifar-Moshfeghian (NM), Wang-Gmehling (WG), modified Redlich-Kwong by Twu-Coon-Cunningham (RK-TCC), modified Soave-Redlich-Kwong by Mathias (MSRK1), and modified Soave-Redlich-Kwong by Soave (MSRK2). The investigated equations of state give good predictions for the low-temperature branch of the inversion curve, except for the NM equation of state. The maximum inversion temperature and pressure were calculated from each EOS for operating gas in the Joule-Thomson throttling experiment.
