Abstract
A single-layer guided-mode resonance-based broadband high reflector is designed for the 0.45-2 micron wavelength band using the particle swarm optimizati on technique. The designed TM-polarized reflector provides ~520 nm bandwidth at >99% reflectance. The spectral response under varying refractive-index modulation and layer thickness is investigated.
