Abstract
The core-shell nanoparticles(NPs) has been recently developed in degredation and adsorption of water pollutants and then it is used for the removal[1]. In this study, a rapid sonochemical synthesis of Fe3O4@SiO2 magnetic nanoparticles with core-shell structure is reported and RB5 (anionic dye) in the presence and absence of ultrasound. The coating of Fe3O4 NPs is accelerated with silica using an alkaline hydrolysis of tetraethyl orthosilicate in ethanol, water and ammonia mixture[2]. The process was carried out in ambient condition and it’s synthesis was shorter under ultrasound then conventional method. Core-shell Fe3O4@SiO2 NPs prepared with ultrasound exhibit a higher capacity to dye removal in comparison with the synthesized sample with classical method. Moreover, increasing the mass transport due to acoustic cavitation improves the homogeneity and monodispersity of the core-shell particles. In addition, the removal of RB5 in the presence of sono-synthesized sorbent was done in the minimum possible time(1 min) and amount of sorbent(0.02 gr).
