The reaction of 1-amino-2-mercapto-5-methyl-1,2,3-triazole with 4-amino-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol in the presence of Et3N in CH3CN gave quantitatively 3-[(5-bromo-2-chloro-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinyl)sulfanyl]-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-amine. The substitution of chlorine atom with secondary amines was also investigated and the resulting products were cyclized on treatment with NaNH2 in CH3CN to give various new derivatives of 3,6-dimethyl-5H-pyrimido[4,5-e][1,2,4]triazolo[3,4b][1,3,4] thiadiazines.
