Caraway (Bunium persicum L.) is a high value herbaceous spice and medicinal plant widely used for culinary, flowering, perfumery and carminative purposes. In order to evaluate the impacts of caraway density on density and diversity of weeds, an experiment was conducted in a three-year field of caraway at the at the Agricultural Research Station, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, during growing season of 2011-2012. The density and diversity of weeds were measured at the rosette and flowering stages of caraway. The results showed that with increasing caraway density, decreased weed density at the first and the second stages based on logarithmic trend lines. The highest and the lowest Shannon Index (SI) of weed were observed for the maximum and minimum densities of caraway.
