In this work, we prepared few-layer graphene nanosheets in high yields by burning magnesium metal in dry ice and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier Transform-Infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, and X-ray powder diffraction technique. The synthetic process is cost effective and can be used to produce few-layer graphene in large quantities. Furthermore, the use of non-toxic chemicals during the synthesis constitutes this work as part of green chemistry.
