Abstract
A novelelectrochemicalhydridegeneration(ECHG)systemworkinginflow-injection(FI)modewas developedfordeterminationofcadmiumcoupledtoanelectricallyheatedquartztubeatomizer(QTA) by atomicabsorptionspectrometry(AAS).APlackett–Burmanexperimentaldesignforscreeninghas been usedtoevaluatetheinfluenceofseveralvariablesontheanalyticalresponse.Then,thesignificant parameterssuchastheconcentrationofNaClincatholyte,appliedelectrolyticcurrentandflowrateof carriergashavebeensimultaneouslyoptimizedusingacentralcompositedesign(CCD).Underthe optimizedconditions,thedetectionlimit(3sb, n¼9) wasfoundtobe0.51ngmL1 Cd andtherelative standarddeviation(RSD)forninereplicateanalysesof20ngmL1 Cd was6.5%.Thecalibrationcurve was linearintherangeof2–50ngmL1 of Cd.Thepotentialinterferencesfromvariousionswerealso evaluated.Theanalysisofareferencematerialshowedgoodagreementwiththecertifiedvalue.The proposedmethodwassuccessfullyappliedtothedeterminationofCdintapwatersample.
