Abstract
In this paper, a new leaky wave antenna (LWA) is introducedو, which radiates through a dielectric aperture created by an half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) technique. The proposed antenna is designed and numerically investigated using HFSS software. One sample of the antenna is also fabricated and its radiation properties are measured. Results show that half conical radiation patterns are provided by the proposed antenna. Moreover, the proposed antenna has the advantages of wide band width, high gain in addition to its low profile, low fabrication cost and low weight. Moreover, it provides other features including beam steering capability which make it suitable for millimeter-wave applications.
