Abstract

Vitamin E is the most effective biological antioxidant. Its deficiency causes oxidative damage. Moreover, vitamin E deficiency causes disturbances of growth and fertility, affecting in particular nerves, muscles, the circulation, the blood, and the liver. Vitamin E has a protective function in cell metabolism and improves immune status by stimulating antibody formation. This vitamin has a role in preventing atherosclerosis by inhibiting the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein. Vitamin E deficiency often occurs when impair the absorption of vitamin E from fat including liver disorders, disorders of fat metabolism, and disorders of bile secretion. Measuring the serum α-tocopherol level is the most direct
