Abstract

This study describes a new electrochemical sensor based on electrochemical reduced graphene oxide (GO) modified glassy carbon electrodes for rapid determination of sulfide. Graphene nanomaterials with long- range π- conjugation and the electron configuration has excellent thermal, mechanical and electrochemical properties [1, 2]. For sensing applications, the methods for depositing active materials on electrodes are most crucial. So far, graphene films on electrodes usually have been obtained by drop-casting solution-based graphene obtained from chemical reduction of graphene GO sheets. Electrochemical preparation of graphene by using cyclic voltammetry method has some advantages to chemically raduced graphene such as simply, be fast, reproducibility and environmental friendly. Also, the gtaphene coating will be clean, homogeneous and controllable. The platinum electrodes were tested for electrodeposition too, But reduction of GO wasn’t feasible on pt electrode. Morphology and electrochemical properties of electrochemical reduced graphene characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The effecs of the scan rates, cycle numbers, and mass of graphene oxide, sonication time and pH are evaluated and optimized by both single and multivariation optimization. Analytical performance of electrochemical reduced graphene for direct determination of sulfide in phosphate buffer solution is also assessd. Compered to the bare glassy carbon electrode, electrochemical reduced graphene exhibited large current, indicating high electrocatalytic ability towards sulfide oxidation.
