Abstract Introduction: sports faci li ties arc one or the sports development tools. It seems that access to these spaces can be effective in increasing physical activity in urban popul ations. Now one of the most important problems in cities is poor establishment of sports arenas for local people. So that many people, due to lack of access to these spaces cannot be desirable to use them efficiently. Purpose: The purpose of this study was Spatial Analysis of Sports Places in Bojnourd city Using Geographic Information System (GIS) Method: The study was a descriptive survey_ Field data were taken using GPS, GIS and spatial analysis in this application to the analysis of sports facilities. Appropriate space on the radius of coverage (small, medium and large) was analyzed separately. Results: Appropriate spaces on the coverage radius of each locat ion were studied . Finally, results from the fact that a good situation in terms of sports facil ities in the city of Bojnourd does not fit the space. Conclusions: According to this study distribution of sports facilities was not proportional to volume of population and area. Finally there was not spatial harmony among smat!, medium and large Sport facilities. However, the results showed that small sports facili ti es had inadequate, medium sports fac il it ies had a modest and large sports facilities did not have spati al appropriateness.
