Abstract

In this research two flux vector splitting applied in the solution of Euler Equations namely AUSM+up and AUSM+ schemes are analyzed. The functionality of each scheme, in first and second order accuracy, and the effect of limiting functions on their performance, for flow around NACA0012 in different flow regimes were thoroughly studied and the results are compared with CUSP and Scalar schemes. Scalar scheme has some coefficients which the user must obtain them by trial and error. CUSP scheme predicts better results for shocks compared to Scalar scheme and also prevents from fluctuations very well. The first order AUSM+ and AUSM+up schemes do not capture shocks very well and show them so much thick. The second order AUSM-family schemes are always reliable and work very well for all the flow conditions. One of best priority of AUSM+up scheme is that there is no coefficient (β) for the user to obtain. AUSM+up has better convergence rate and accuracy than AUSM+ in most flow regime, because this scheme reduce the oscillations near bodied quantitatively.
