The aim of this study was to the effect of mental skills on the sporty anxiety was. The statistical population of this study was all in athletic students of Eleventh Olympiad of universities in Iran part boys (N=3500) and in girls (N=2500). Which based on Morgan Table, the size of statistical sample was the boys 346 and in girls 331. For gathering data, two standard questionnaires mental skills of Russell (2010) and competitive anxiety of Martinez et al (1990) were used. Validity of questionnaires was achieved through considering comments of professors in sports psychology Course and internal reliability of both questionnaires using Cronbach's alpha, respectively, 0.80 and 0.74 were determined. Considering the type of study, the research method was correlational which has been done through field method. Descriptive scales and Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistical tests and analyze regression were used to analyze the data. The result of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test confirmed the normality of data (P>0.05). The result of regression analysis indicated that the mental skills can predict the aspects of cognitive anxiety and the self-confidence of athletes.
