Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the comparison of age, training background and championship continuity in Iranian elite wrestlers with other countries ones. The study involved 800 elite wrestlers since the 1960s to 2010 has won medals in international competitions (124 from Iran, 159 from Russian Federation, 80 from United States, 69 from Cuba, 100 from Georgia, 116 from Turkey and 152 from Ukraine ) have been examined. Methods: All information on this Iranian elite wrestlers and elite wrestlers of Russian Federation, United States, Cuba, Georgia, Turkey and Ukraine that gain medal at the international competitions, through the internet site of World Wrestling Federation (Fila) was extracted in this study. By subjects to describe the characteristics of descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and tables were used. Data to determine differences between the countries of the Scheffe post hoc test was used to test and variance analysis. Likewise, the Pearson correlation coefficient was used to express the relationship between variables. Results: Iranian wrestlers active age (12/25±2/19) with other countries (10/94±2/48) a significant difference was significant (p≤0/05) and Iranian wrestlers, wrestling started later than other countries had, However Iranian wrestlers (6/97 ± 3/06) earlier than other countries (8/32 ± 3/94) had found their first medal. The results showed, Iranian wrestlers (21/83 ± 3/21) compared to other countries (21/84 ± 3/77), the best of his medals are on average in older acquired.
