Pyrimidine derivatives have recently found wide applications as drugs. These compounds have been synthesized and evaluated as anti-HIV [1], anticancer [2] anti-inflammatory [3] and RET Kinase inhibitors [4]. Moreover, these derivatives can be used as precursors in the synthesis of fused ring compounds and novel heterocycle systems. Four novel 6,8-dimethyl-2-(methylthio)-4-(amino substituted)pyrazolo[1,5-α:3,4-dˊ]dipyrimidine were prepared via a multistep synthetic sequence beginning from 4-hydroxy-2,6-bis(methylthio)pyrimidine-5-carbonitrile.
