Title : ( oncentration of reactive dyes in water using MnFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles and their simultaneous spectrophotometric determination by multivariate chemometrics methods )
Authors: Taherh Heidari ,Abstract
Adsorption techniques are widely used to remove certain classes of pollutants from waters, especially those that are not easily biodegradable. Dyes represent one of the problematic groups. The reactive dyes are widely used in the textile industry due to their high level of stability during washing and because of their simple dyeing procedures, these being the main class of dyes used to dye cellulose and cotton. However, these dyes are highly soluble in water and also have low levels of fixing to fibers, most of their initial concentration being lost to the effluent. On the other hand, nanosized magnetic particlesare consideredpotential adsorbents for aqueous pollutants due to their high surface area and the unique advantage of easy separation underexternal magnetic fields. In this study initially, the dyes were preconcentrated from water samples with solid-phase extraction using manganese ferrite nano particles prepared via solvothermalmethod. The obtained nanoparticles exhibited an excellent extraction for the dyes from solution. The parameters that influence quantitative recovery of reactive dyes like dosage of adsorbent, volume of eluent solution, pH (adsorption and desorption), time (adsorption and desorption) were varied and optimized. After elution of the adsorbed dyes, the concentration of dyes was determined spectrophotometrically with theaid of chemo metrics methods.
