Abstract
This study attempts to investigate the effectiveness of group new reality therapy based on choice theory in hopefulness of substance abusers. Hope is defined as a process of thinking about personal goals, along with the motivation to move towards the goals and methods to achieve goals. In order to achieve the aims of this study, the research employed pretest, post-test and control group design. The 40 individuals in TC center of Mashhad city were selected According to Lower case level of hopefulness and inclusion and exclusion criteria. They were randomly divided into the experimental and control groups. Both groups completed Snyder hope scale before and after treatment. Findings showed that group new reality therapy based on choice theory results in enhancing hopefulness in substance abusers in the experimental group compared with the control group. Reality therapy can be used to enhance hopefulness of substance abusers.
