In recent years, researchers could take a major step toward cancer treatment using synthetic compounds. Indole derivatives are an important family of therapeutic agents which has been identified as anticancer agents, antioxidants, anti-rheumatism and anti-HIV. It has been identified that derivatives of 3 - (OH) 2 – Oxy-idol containing substituent at position 3 with broad biological activity. In this study, in order to find out Indole derivatives with anticancer powers, which hadn't been discovered yet, family of 3 -hydroxy-2 - Oxy-indole (Z6, Z4, Z2) were synthesized. The effects of these compounds on cell viability in human prostate cancer cells DU145 were examined using the MTT test in various concentrations and different times. Therefore, after dissolving of each compound in the ratio of water and dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), the effect of these concentrations (10-640 μM) on cell viability of DU145 were examined at 24 ,48 and 72 hours. The results showed that the Z2 composition doesn’t have any significant effect on cell viability. Z4 and Z6 compounds have been shown concentration and time dependent effects. Cell viability percent decrease with increasing concentrations and time, but cytotoxicity of these compounds increases. The study of toxicity effect of 3 -hydroxy-2 - Oxy-indol on the normal fibroblast cells did not show a significant effect on the cell viability.
