The aim of this study was the evaluation of the effects of organic fertilizers and mycorrhiza inoculation on leaf area index (LAI) and dry yield of dwarf chicory (Cichorium umilum Jacq). A field experiment was conducted at Research Farm of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in growing season of 2013.Experimental data was nalyzed as a factorial-split based on completely randomized block design with three replications. Treatments including four levels of organic fertilizers (Cow manure, humic acid, fulvic acid and control), three levels of mycorrhiza inoculation (Glomus mosseae, Glomus intraradices and no inoculation) and two cuts (15 June and 13 July). Results showed that, cow manure and mycorrhiza inoculation treatments significantly influenced LAI, fresh and dry yields of dwarf chicory, compared to other treatments. In addition, fresh and dry yields of dwarf chicory in the second cut were significantly greater that first cut. Based on our results it seems that integrated management of organic fertilizers and mycorrhiza inoculation could be an effective approach for increasing the dwarf chicory yield under controlled conditions [1].
