چکیده

Introduction: Traditional warm-up was starting with stretching in preparing for physical activity. Coaches believed stretching prior to physical activity to promote better performance and decrease muscular-skeletal injuries during athletic activities. Static stretches, are performed slowly until the muscle cannot be stretched any further and then held for approximately 30 seconds, while a dynamic warm-up includes activity-specific movements. So the specific aim of this study was to compare the effects of a static versus dynamic warm-up protocol on selected physical measures in college male soccer players. Methods: Twenty two soccer athletes varsity male (age: 21.02±1.27years) each participated after familiarization on four randomly assigned experimental test sessions including: a 10-min static warm-up with a 2-min time interval until performance testing, and a 10-min dynamic warm-up with three different time intervals (2-min; 5-min; and15- min) prior to testing. All test sessions were separated by at least 48 hours. Performance testing consisted of a standing broad jump, shuttle run, Illinois agility run and a sit-and-reach flexibility test. We used repeated measures ANOVA for assessment significant difference among the four different procedures during the warm-up conditions. Results and Discussion: It difference was significantly (p<0.001). Post hoc comparisons revealed that participants’ shuttle run, was better following dynamic 2-min (8.33±.22 sec) and dynamic 5-min (8.21±.13 sec) warm-ups than in static 2-min (9.12±.35sec) and dynamic15-min (8.56±.19 sec), and standing broad jumps were significantly longer following dynamic 5-min (247.93±5.28cm) than static 2-min (234.58±3.93cm). In sit-and-reach flexibility performance, was better following dynamic 15-min and static 2-min warm-ups, than in dynamic 2-min and dynamic 5-min. This investigation showed an improved agility and jump performance immediately following a dynamic warm-up compared to a static warm-up. Furthermore, the advantage of the dynamic warm-up diminished when the time interval from warm-up was elongated to 15-min. Key Words: Static, Dynamic, physical fitness.
