Abstract

In this article we study a specific sort of schema, called “event schema” in one of the Suras of the Quran. Event schema as discussed by Dirven & Verspoor (2004) has several such sub-branches as “doing schema”, “having schema”. We will discuss which kinds of event schemas are used in Ar-rahman sura. Based on our analysis we found that “being schema” and “doing schema” are the most frequently used schemas observed Ar-rahman. It was also concluded that participant roles are not always explicitly mentioned in the sentence rather we have to infer these covert roles through semantic and syntactic relations.
