Abstract
Nutritional factors have major impact on improvement of growth of Monascus purpureus PTCC5303 under solid state cultivation. In this paper, growth of M. purpureus PTCC5305 has been studied in seven kind of solid state medium. The results showed that glucose increased growth of M. purpureus and a combination of glucose and sucrose gives more improved its cell mass production. Among the media tested, PGC medium was the most appropriate medium for fungus growth. YMP medium had the lowest radial growth as well. Therefore, PGC could be proposed as the basal medium for M. purpureus cultivation in industrial and large-scale fermentation firmly.
