A novel mechanochemical process is proposed for facile synthesis of aluminium nitride-carbon (AlN-C) nanocomposite via ball-milling of melamine (C3H6N6) and aluminum powders. Melamine was implemented, as source of nitrogen of Ali particles. The phase evaluation of rectants and the structure of final products were characterized. It was revealed that the nanostructured AlN with hexagonal structure (h-AlN) is synthesized at milling times as short as 6 h. The presence of carbonaceous phase with a nan-crystalline structure an mean crystallite size of 2 nm was also detected in the products.
