Abstract
Nanofluid and helical coil are two different techniques to enhance the heat transfer ability of equipments. In the present study the forced convective heat transfer of laminar nanofluid flows through a helical pipe with uniform heat flux boundary condition have been investigated numerically. Three-dimensional energy equation in curvilinear coordinate system was solved by finite element method. The modified dispersion method was employed to simulate the thermal performance of nanofluid flows through helical pipe. Numerical results fit experimental data obtained in our laboratory with reasonable agreements. Simulation results clearly show that addition of nanoparticles to base liquid produces a considerable enhancement of heat transfer. Also, heat transfer coefficients increase with nanoparticle concentration.
