Abstract
In this paper a low profile and high gain H-plane horn antenna implemented by substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique with very low side lobe level (SLL) is developed. Using a dielectric lens in front of the radiating aperture, antenna gain is improved. To reduce SLL and backward radiation, a semicircular shaped metallic reflector is placed at both ends of the radiating aperture. The introduced antenna is numerically investigated by a commercial software package and its radiation performance is reported and compared with those of a conventional H-plane horn with and without dielectric lens. Results show that the proposed antenna provides 11.7 dB gain with maximum SLL of -25 dB.
