Abstract
A mathematicalmodelfortwo-dimensional fluid flowundertheinfluence ofstreamwisetransverse magnetic fields inlaminarregimeissimulatedinthisstudy.Heattransferpastasquarediamondshaped porous obstacleisalsotakenintoaccount.Theattentionisfocusedtoinvestigatetheeffectsofintensity and directionofmagnetic field, DarcyandReynoldsnumbersonthemechanismofconvectiveheat transfer and flow structures.TheDarcy–Brinkman–ForchheimermodelalongwiththeMaxwellequa- tions isused.Thenonlinearcoupledequationsusinga finite volumeapproach(FVA)aresolvednu- merically.ThecalculationsareperformedfordifferentgoverningparameterssuchasReynoldsnumber, Nusseltnumber,StuartnumberandPrandtlNumber.Thephysicalinterpretationofvelocityandiso- thermal contoursisassignedthroughgraphs.Itisshownthattheeffectsofatransversemagnetic field on flowbehaviorandheattransfermechanismaremorethanthatofthestreamwisemagnetic field. The configuration ofstreamlinesandvorticitycontoursphenomenaarealsopresentedforporousdiamond obstacle. Comparisonofthenumericalsolutionswithexistingliteratureisalsomade.
