Abstract
Abstract: In this article, we describe a novel, simple and low cost method for fabrication paper-based microfluidic using patterned stickers and a commercial waterproof eye pencil. Fabrication procedure was done by heating the patterned paper in 150˚c by hot plate in about 10 minutes. To verify the quantitative applicability of the constructed microfluidic paper based analytical device, colorimetric assays [1] for simultaneous analysis of calcium and magnesium were performed and water hardness were determined. Improvement on the intensity color inside sensing zone has gained with mixing reagents [2]. In comparison with complexometry using Ethylene di amine tetra acetic acid although is an inexpensive but it is time consuming and subject to operational errors [3]. Several instrumental approaches, including Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry, determine these analytes individually in waters and are very expensive [4]. Ultraviolet-Visible spectrophotometric methods can determine them simultaneously with multivariate analysis of data but it needs certain skills [5]. Consequently, the analytical results obtained by paper-based microfluidic were compared to those obtained by titration and this result were in good agreement with those obtained by titration. We provides a new alternative method for fabricating lab-on-paper devices with readout using flatbed scanner are consider promising approach in developing countries with limited resources.
