Abstract
Reverse time migration (RTM) has been known to be sensitive to variation in velocity model. Small variation in velocity model can result in a visible change in the image which makes the migration not a favorable choice for complicated land data with rough topography. In this paper we introduce new technique for RTM which we call it coherent stacking. We show that with coherent stacking we are able to produce a good image with land data with rough topography even without an accurate velocity model. We applied RTM on land data in south of Zagros mountainous terrain area with challenging topography. In this area even depth migration has trouble to produce a meaningful image while we showed that RTM is able to resolve some structures where PSDM fails.
