This paper considers for the first time two novels penned by the British Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) and the Egyptian Nawal El Saadawi (1931) from a feminist comparative perspective. The current study highlighted the distinct ways wherein Wollstonecraft in Maria, or The Wrongs of Woman (1798) and El Saadawi in Imra'ah 'IndaNuqtat al-Sifr (1973) have made great use of literature, to similarly propagate their ideas، albeit they come from very dissimilar cultures. By exploiting second wave feminism along with the American school of comparative literature, the present paper attempts to vividly manifest how the respective novelists have utilized the same techniques to expose the reality of the patriarchal social system and its direct role in women’s oppression. It also highlights the way the female novelists introduced their heroines in a different and a more accurate fashion than that of those introduced by male novelists. The findings reveal that women have employed the same weapons to challenge their oppressors, due to the fact that the motives behind women’s misery are basically the same regardless of their cultures, religious beliefs, places and times.
