چکیده

ABSTRACT Pillared clays (PILC) are interesting materials mostly due to their high basal spacing and surface area, which make them suitable for adsorption of the most toxic and abundant of the aflatoxins (Aflatoxin B1). The bentonitic clays show good adsorptive characteristics, being used as alternative material for removing aflatoxine. Adsorption capacity of the two different types of natural and Al-Fe pillared montmorillonite as aflatoxin adsorbents was investigated as a function of time, pH and temperature. The physicochemical properties of natural and Al-Fe pillared montmorillonite were characterized by using XRD, XRF and ICP techniques. XRD patterns were obtained from the untreated sample (natural clay) showed d-spacing of 12.21 Å and changes to 14.06 Å on Al-Cr-PILC and finally expands to 18.35 Å on Al-Fe pillared montmorillonit. The experimental results obtained in this study demonstrated that Al-pillared clay has a high adsorption capacity for elimination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1).
