Abstract

Purpose: The assessment of social impacts is one of the major issues in making and implementation of large-scale development projects. Methods: In this regard, this study is assessed about the social impacts of the Parkandabad sewage treatment project in Mashhad. For assessment, Finestrobus twelve indices with 43 elements were used. In the next step, single sample t-test with a standard score of 3 was used as the acceptable standard level at a significant level less than 0.05. Results: The results showed that the two health and safety indexes with average (2.11) and aesthetics (2.47) are in an inappropriate state, and should be considered because it is directly related to the body and mental state of humans. A number of indicators (noise, facilities, communities, and utilization) were acceptable, to the extent that they should be planned to improve their status. Several indicators (population, employment, structure, leisure, and reaction) appear to be of relatively favorable status, but this situation is due to various factors, including economic poverty in the region. Conclusion: Finally, the desirable condition of the spatial displacement index and the change of pace of life with the average (5.19), which apparently indicates that there are proper living conditions, but it is not true. This issue is proved by a high standard deviation among respondents; that is, inappropriate financial conditions prevent population movements and as soon as the economic condition is changed, they are not in the current location anymore. At the end of the ranking of the villages, based on the total points of the indexes, it became clear that the Frisian village is the worst and Khin-e Arab have the best status in terms of twelve indices.
