Abstract
In the recent decade, fabrication of organ-on-a-chip (OoC) for drug development and disease modeling process is rising significantly. Animal trials and human clinical tests are expensive and time-consuming. Furthermore, animal testing evolves ethical issues and their metabolism can differ from those in humans. So the implementation of a comprehensive simulation of bioreactors before fabrication seems logical. One of the most important aspects of OoC simulation is oxygen supply and diffusion into cells. In this study desired oxygen concentration for hepatocytes in the square bioreactor with the internal gas permeable membrane was investigated. alternation of mass transfer coefficient (K୪ୟ) that depends on the material and its thickness supposed to use in the simulation can independently control the oxygen concentration within the bioreactor.
