Abstract
The aim of this study was to prepare a nanocarrier for ferrous sulfate supplement drug based on the solid lipid nanoparticle (SLN) to decrease drug side effects. Iron loaded solid lipid nanoparticles were produced by double emulsion- free solvent method by applying ultra-sonication. Construction of pseudo-ternary phase diagram for melting lipid, water and surfactant gave the appropriate point for SLN formation with this ratio: (stearic acid: 0.74) - (span 80:0.02) - (water: 0.24). This diagram was plotted for the first time for this system. The particle size and entrapment efficiency were respectively measured using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analyses. Hydrodynamic diameter of particles were around 273 nm with the PDI value of 0.104. Calculated entrapment efficiency was 82.58% which was acceptable values for lipid nanocarriers.
