Abstract

In this study, a polymeric nanoparticle containing Isotretinoin drug was prepared by applying ionotropic gelation method. Chitosan (CS) was applied as a biocompatible polymer and tripolyphosphate (TPP) was used as a crosslinker agent. The effect of pH on the nanoparticle size was investigated. Experimental results showed that at the optimum pH of 3.75, NPs have the sizes of 256.5 nm with the poly dispersity index of 0.128. These values are suitable for delivery of drug in body. Moreover, results confirmed that the pH of solution is a key parameter impacts on the NP size and entrapment efficiency of drugs by chaining the surface charge of nanoparticles and drugs.
