In the interconnected, interdependent world of the twenty-first century, what appears to be of great importance is finding a way of promoting social harmony and the resultant good life among the heterogeneous individuals around the globe particularly the Muslim and the Western worlds given the “central role these two large communities have been playing in global relations for the last fourteen centuries” -Ihsanoglu, 2011, p. v-. Failure to see to such fundamental issues has repercussions for the entire world. The attack on the US on 11 September 2001 is a reflective case in point, since it illuminates a perfect and peaceful solution for this issue that is the conscious appreciation of the universally accepted and revered personages and their teachings, here this term applies to Jalal al-Din Mohammad Rumi -1207-1273- thirteenth-century Persian, Sufi poet whose teachings and values represent one from of ‘Resource Culture’ -Hardenberg et al, 2017- that can function as bridges or social links between heterogeneous individuals. The purpose of this paper is to explicate the relationship between how Rumi’s teachings are ‘ResourceCultures’ and at the same time a solution for promoting global harmony and good life, the incident of 9/11, one instance of what Durkheim calls ‘collective effervescence’, is adopted because it can provide illuminating insights.
