Abstract
A simple and efficient protocol for the synthesis of novel pyranothiadiazolopyrimidine derivatives via the reaction of aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile and 7-hydroxy-2-phenyl-5H-[1,3,4]thiadiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine- 5-one in solvent-free conditions and in the presence of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) as organ catalyst, is reported. The procedure involves initial Knoevenagel reaction, followed by Michael addition and subsequent internal heterocyclization. The short reaction time, environmentally friendly conditions and good to high yields are the main advantages of the protocol.
