Title : ( ENHANCING FLOOD RISK ANALYSIS AT THE RIVER BASIN SCALE, BY COMPARING HYDRAULIC AND GEOMORPHOLOGIC APPROACH )
Authors: Alireza Faridhosseini ,Abstract
Due to the uncertainty concerning the location of flow paths on active alluvial fans, alluvial fan floods could be more dangerous than riverine floods. This study was conducted on alluvial fan located in Southeast of Iran using a combination of the hydraulic portion of the FLO-2D model, the CADDIES-2D model, and the new Geomorphic Flood Index (GFI), which can delineate the flood exposure areas and water depth at the same time. The results of each approach were obtained, which they produced two different results of depth and delineating floodplain area within the selected area. Thereafter, the results of hydraulic models and geomorphic flood method were evaluated and compared. The goal of this research was to introduce a simple but effective solution to estimate the flood hazards.
