In the course of revision of Trigonella sect. Ellipticae (Boiss.) Sirj. (Fabaceae) in Iran, herbarium and living material were studied. As a result, T. laxiflora Aitch. & Baker is reported as new for Iran, and T. torbatejamensis Ranjbar and T. korovinii Vassilcz. are reduced to its synonymy. Moreover, T. binaloudensis Ranjbar & Karamian and T. stipi-tata Ranjbar & Joharchi are synonymized under T. subenerνis Rech.f., and T. heratensisRech.f. is excluded from the flora of Iran. Detailed descriptions, distribution maps, IUCN conservation status assessments and illustrations of T. laxiflora and T. subenervisare provided.
