Introduction: Emotion dysregulation is one of the important underlying factor in development and maintenance of mood and anxiety symptoms and can reduce therapeutic effectiveness significantly. The current study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of a transdiagnostic group treatment for emotional disorders in decreasing the use of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies and experiential avoidance in women with comorbid generalized anxiety and major depressive symptoms Method: The research method is semi-experimental, with baseline, post-test and control group. Our participants consisted of 35 women, meeting symptoms for generalized anxiety and depression, who were randomized to either the experimental or control groups. The experimental group received 12 sessions of 2-hour group treatment, based on the Unified Protocol for transdiagnostic disorders, while the control group did not receive any treatment. assessments were determined using a semi-structural clinical interview and, in addition, participants completed the Beck Depression Inventory, the Beck Anxiety Inventory, the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale and the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire. Results: the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale and the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire. Results indicated that compared to the control group, the transdiagnostic group treatment significantly alleviated the symptoms of generalized anxiety and depression (p<0/05), and significantly improved emotional regulation strategies and experiential avoidance (p<0/05) Conclusion: The results of this study showed that Unified Protocol (UP) transdiagnostic group treatment, which addresses the common underlying factors of emotional disorders, may be an effective therapeutic strategy for individuals with emotional comorbid disorders, and contribute to reducing maladaptive emotion regulation strategies (e.g. experiential avoidance)
