Abstract
In this paper, the possibility of cloaking a metallic cylinder is investigated for a wide range of angles of obliquely incidence TE and TM wave using the well-known mantle cloaking technique. Initially, the scattered field is formulated analytically using the circumferential waves in cylindrical coordinates. A full tensor is utilized for modeling the sheet impedance of an ideal metasurface wrapped around the cylinder to be cloaked. Then, a capacitive rectangular patch metasurface is designed and its parameters are optimized to suppress both the co- and cross-polarized of the scattered fields. The analytical results are verified with those obtained using the full wave simulation investigation performed by CST Microwave Studio, and a very good agreement is observed between the obtained results.
