Abstract

In the commented paper [Appl. Surf. Sci. 351 (2015) 1140–1145] Bhagat and Dhokane have studied the structural and optical properties of the poly(vinyl acetate)/polyindole composites films. As it is shown in this comment, the refractive index of the samples has been calculated using an incorrect equation and reported values are unreasonable. Also, the optical parameters determined based on the false values of the refractive index such as complex dielectric constant and optical conductivity are incorrect. Besides, the evaluated values of the optical energy band gap are erroneous. Moreover, the reported values for the extinction coefficient are abnormally high and it most likely to be incorrect.
