Abstract
Wound healing is a complex process that results from damage to skin tissue or soft tissues. This process includes the stages of inflammation and hemostasis, migration, proliferation, puberty and regeneration. The production of free radicals in the inflammatory phase of the wound causes tissue destruction and delays wound healing. Due to the role of antioxidant enzymes in neutralizing free radicals, the presence of these enzymes in the wound healing process accelerates wound healing. In this study, the antioxidant activity, toxicity and proliferation of LFcin-11 peptide fragment on L929 cell line fibroblasts were investigated. First, a peptide fragment containing 11 amino acids (LFcin-11) derived from Lactoferricin was synthesized chemically. Then the effect of toxicity and peptide amplification on fibroblast cells was investigated by MTT method. The results of MTT assay indicated non-toxicity of this peptide on fibroblast cells. The results of catalase assay showed that in L929-treated cells with LFcin-11, with increasing peptide concentration, catalase activity also increased. In addition, the results of measuring the antioxidant activity of LFcin-11 peptide indicated the ability of the peptide to remove DPPH radicals. The results of this study showed that LFcin-11 peptide has a protective role for fibroblast cells by increasing antioxidant activity that can play an important role in wound healing.
