Abstract

Herein, a hierarchical porous wood was coated with Ag and Pd plasmonic nanoparticles (NPs) as double layer and was used as efficient photoabsorbers in interfacial solar steam generation (ISSG) of seawater. The results showed that the surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag and Pd NPs increases the photothermal conversion efficiency. According to the results, the highest evaporation flux of 4.82 kg m− 2 h− 1 was achieved under 3 kW m− 2 irradiation when wood was coated with Ag and Pd NPs as a bottom and upper layer, respectively. Moreover, the salinity, electrical conductivity, and pH of seawater decreased from 3138.19, 6000, and 8.1 to 6.76 mg L− 1, 20.5 μS cm− 1, and 6.7, respectively. The ISSG device represented a stable water generation capability during longterm cycles.
