Syria has suffered from war for more than ten years. Physically, the residential urban fabric has been greatly damaged, but there is a damage to the social fabric in the country that is difficult to assess. When reconstructing housing, it is necessary to rely on long-term sustainable plans that take into account the economic, environmental and social aspects. The reconstruction of housing in Syria will be very complicated due to the enormous social damage caused to the social fabric of the country. The development of social aspects is usually entrusted to humanitarian organizations without linking it to the design process and physical reconstruction. This paper emphasizes the role of architecture in achieving social sustainability during the reconstruction of housing after the war, from the beginning of design process reaching to selection of building materials and implementation. The reconstruction of housing after the war cannot be separated from the physiological and social reconstruction, in order to reach long-term sustainable reconstruction plans. In this paper, the descriptive analytical method was adopted to reach the conclusion.
