Abstract

The selective construction of carbon-sulfur bonds is an important tool in organic synthesis due to the useful applications of organic sulfides in organic, pharmaceutical, bioorganic, and heterocyclic chemistry.[1] Aryl-sulfur bonds plainly exist in many molecules that have biological, pharmaceutical, and chemical importance. Recently, aryl sulfides and their derivatives have drawn much attention in molecular precursors for the development of this materials because of their properties. For example, diaryl sulfide functionalities have been found in numerous drugs with a broad spectrum of therapeutic activities such as antidiabetes, antiinflammatory, anti-Alzheimer’s, anti-Parkinson’s, anticancer, and anti-HIV.[2], [3], [4] Many future pharmaceutical applications will undoubtedly require the development of C-S bond-based synthesis to fulfill the increasing demand and practical requirement.[5] Herein, we reported a novel Co-schiff base L-Glu Co MOF for C-S coupling reaction from aryl halide and sulfur compounds for the preparation of aryl sulfides. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs), which are advanced porous coordination polymers (PCPs), are a relatively new class of crystalline porous organic–inorganic hybrid materials which have caused the global research boom in the current century. The use of MOFs as catalysts is expanding due to their unique properties, such as the ultra-high surface area, surface functionalizations, porosity, and crystallinity. MOFs have been widely used in various advanced applications such as gas storage, energy storage, drug delivery, gas sensing, heterogeneous catalysis, etc.[6], [7]
